Some Information About Our Recognition

In the year 1976 a few like-minded people started to think and set up a platform to propagate, foster and preserve traditional forms of Indian Art & Culture as they perceived that these were being slowly wiped out by the apparent glamorous but a blindfolded imitation of the west among the people via electronic media. With this thought and a conviction to sensitize the Indian youth about the Cultural Heritage of our country was established the SARBABHARATIYA SANGEET -O- SANSKRITI PARISHAD (SSSP) operating since 23rd January 1976 from a rented house at Jadu Mitra Lane, Kolkata, which subsequently shifted to Ramratan Basu Road, Kolkata. Late Pandit Sukhendu Goswami had suggested the name.

The Parishad has since then, started affiliating Training Centres in different parts of West Bengal where students were being tutored in various streams of Indian Art and Culture.

A comprehensive syllabus on various streams was prepared under the guidance of all the Stalwarts and great Gurus (of National and International fame) of its various branches and the affiliated Centres were asked to follow the same. The entire course was distributed within a span of 11 years with a rational approach to provide training from the initial years to the mature years of graduation and post graduation. Arrangements were made for conducting Annual Examinations for evaluating the individual progress of the Student to be sent up by those affiliated Centres and to confer Degree/Diploma to the successful Students with an intention to groom them to be either a performer or a teacher - independent or employed.

Gradually Parishad has taken an enormous shape, inviting new centres from the different part of the country, now, there was felt a necessity of larger accommodation and therefore a two storied building was purchased at 1A, Jadunath Sen Lane, Kolkata in 1983. The new office of the Parishad was an epitome of heritage itself, this was the venue of the first widow remarriage initiated by Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, the great social reformer, in the then Calcutta.

Special Note: SARBABHARATIYA SANGEET O SANSKRITI PARISHAD is an internationally reputed Dance, Drama, Music and Fine Arts Examination Board. It is an ISO 9001: 2015 affiliated / registered organization. We are recognized by the West Bengal State Academy of Dance, Drama, Music & Fine Arts, Rabindra Bharati University. Our Certificate / Degree / Diplomas are equivalent to the Certificate/ Degree / Diploma of Raja Man Singh Tomor Music and Fine Arts University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and Indira Kala Sangeet Viswavidyalaya(University), Khhairagarh, Chhattisgarh - B.Mus/B.Fine and M.Mus/M.Fine equivalent.
